Bighorn Sheep at Carrizo Canyon

This Thursday's trek was a cold and windy morning at Carrizo Canyon in Palm Desert, CA. There was a pleasant surprise that made this hike special. We spotted a herd of five bighorn sheep going up a steep slope above us! The sheep looked tiny from the distance however, I was able to zoom in on them with my Canon HV40 camcorder. Sorry the footage is a little blurry. With the wind factor and zooming to the max without using a tripod made it very challenging. Watch the above video of our hike.

Carrizo Canyon & Randall Henderson Trails

We hiked the Carrizo Canyon Trail a year ago and decided to hike it again. Leo, our hiking buddy, wasn't with us the last time we hiked there and knew he would like the scenic atmosphere. The hiking trail wasn't as long as many of the others, so we extended it by taking the Randall Henderson Trail. Both trails are near Highway 74 in Palm Desert, California. Just like last year, we still didn't see any sightings of Bighorn sheep. I take that back, we did see one at the Visitor Station. Does a statue count? LOL!

Eisenhower Loop Trail Hike - Palm Desert, CA

While some people were rushing to the mailbox to meet the deadline to file their taxes, we went to The Living Desert to hike the Eisenhower Mountain Trail Loop. It was a good workout and plenty of great scenes along the way.

At the beginning of our hike we were lucky enough to see a whole family of bighorn sheep. Then shortly after we signed in to start our trek, we seen something that none of us ever saw in our entire lives. Swarming bees! That's right, thousands or maybe millions of bees in a tree. You'll see this in my video but don't worry, I kept my distance by filming several feet away.

Once we reached the top of the trail we saw beautiful panaromic views of Indian Wells. We liked this hike so much we will definitely come back again!

BTW: On the way back we didn't sign out on the "Sign Out Sheet" because someone stole the pencil. Just wanted to let everyone know, we made it out of there safely.
