Mardi Gras in March Invitational 2013

The Woodhaven Women's Golf Club, Mardi Gras in March Invitational 2013 was held on March 20, 21 and 22nd. As always, we had spectacular weather for this fun filled event. The above is a slideshow of all the members and guest who played in that golf tournament.

Super Bowl Party

I'm not much into football but had a great time at our friends Super Bowl Party. There were plenty of snacks to munch on and had fun being with the gang. Looking at the above video, it seems I was more interested in the super bowl of chili instead of the Super Bowl, lol!

The game was actually exciting, especially when the lights went out at the stadium. Luckily the lights came back on and the Super Bowl game was able to continue.

Woodhaven Golf Primm Trip 2012

Hiking a New Trail - Coachella Valley Preserve

It's so nice to be able to just jump across the I10 to the Coachella Valley Preserve for a quick and easy hike. Today we explored a different trail in a canyon west of Willis Palms. There was no big drama like last weeks hike climbing out of a cave with a rope. This trek was around 8 miles going through sand and 700 feet elevation. It was a beautiful day for hiking. We found an old rusty beer can that was opened with a church key rather then pop tops. I looked it up on Art's Beer Cans site and found out that pop tops were introduced around 1962. So that beer can had to be over 50 plus years. You just never know what one might find while hiking in the desert.

Outrigger Swamped

While watching from the lanai, we saw a big wave break on top of an outrigger. The wave filled the cockpit nearly swamping the boat. Two people bailed the water out with buckets while the rest of the crew got out. Luckily they were able to get the water out of the cockpit and all returned back in the boat.

We were planning to go out someday on an outrigger but I changed my mind after seeing this.

Tandem Surfing - Waikiki Beach

We were sitting out on the lanai when Darlene pointed towards the ocean and said, "Oh look! Tandem surfing!" Then I asked, "What's tandem surfing?" She explained to me that its a couple on one surfboard that lifts their partner overhead while surfing the wave." So I grabbed my camcorder and recorded four tandem surf teams going out for practice at Waikiki Beach. Watch the above video.

Santa Anita Park - Arcadia, CA

On Friday, a bunch of us from Woodhaven Country Club went to the Santa Anita Park. We took a bus from Palm Desert to Arcadia to enjoy a fun day at the races.

Woodhaven Country Club was honored in the Official Racing Program and on the score board during the 3rd race. We had an exciting day and lots of winners! Thanks to Byron and Silvia Kinsman who arranged this spectacular fun day at the races.
