Outrigger Swamped

While watching from the lanai, we saw a big wave break on top of an outrigger. The wave filled the cockpit nearly swamping the boat. Two people bailed the water out with buckets while the rest of the crew got out. Luckily they were able to get the water out of the cockpit and all returned back in the boat.

We were planning to go out someday on an outrigger but I changed my mind after seeing this.

After dinner this evening, we strolled down Ala Wai Blvd. There we saw four outriggers racing down the canal. I didn't have my camera with me (would you believe?...lol!) so I took this short video with my iPhone.
