Christmas Day with Family - 2013

My niece gave her dog, Roswell, a Santa Paws cake for Christmas. The cake was freshly baked from The Three Dog Bakery. Roswell is blind but had no trouble finding it. He was able to smell the cake and devoured it! He loved it!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Old Handmade Christmas Ornaments

Many years ago, when I was young, I made handmade Christmas ornaments made out of dough. It's amazing that these ornaments stayed in tact after all these years!

Every year, at this time, I always dread getting out the old fake Christmas tree and decorations from the attic (actually hubby climbs up there and gets them). Once I go through the boxes and start putting up the decorations, I'm in the holiday spirit! I turn on the gas fireplace, listen to Jingle Bell's Rock while watching old Saint Nick swinging his hips and hanging the ornaments on the tree.

When I'm done decorating, I'm so impressed how good our tree looks even though it's well over 15 years old! The only downside is stringing the mini lights around it, compare to the new trees that have the lights already built inside it.  At least I saved a lot of money through the years not buying a tree. The pictures above were all taken with my 3G iPhone.

Granddaughter's Christmas Present

Click here to watch this movie in high definition

Our granddaughter, Ella was thrilled when we gave her an advanced 61-Key electronic keyboard for Christmas. The keys look and feel exactly like a piano. Ella's been taking piano lessons this past year and we thought she would like this.

Grandpa also gave Ella his old IMac for Christmas when he recently got this one. Then he powered her keyboard directly to her computer. Now she can make music and record it. Infact, I'm saving one of Ella's MIDI synthesizer music she composed to use as background music for one of my videos. Imagine, our granddaughter the composer!

Holiday Dinner with Friends

We served tamales for our guest last Friday for our holiday dinner. Remember, the ones my hubby waited in line for two and a half hours at the Tamale Festival?

This year I didn't make my usual Gingerbread Men cookies the traditional way. Instead, I prepared them by using a Gingerbread Quick Spice Bread mix. When I took them out of the oven I was very surprised! They looked more like the Pillsbury Doughboy instead. My friend, thought my cookies looked like devils. LOL!

Brigitte, your pot holders you made us are so cool, I included them in the above video. We love it! Carroll and Harry, I would have posted a picture of the box of See's Candies you gave us, but we ate them all!

Happy Holidays!

It's the season to be jolly and having fun at holiday parties. One of our favorite parties of the year is our friend, Barbara's holiday celebration.

If we keep attending parties like this, I won't be able to fit in my clothes!

In a Holiday Spirit

We finally have our tree up including the lights and decorations. Christmas packages are wrapped, except for the bows and ribbons. Starting another batch of gingerbread men cookies.

We also have snow in our back yard! Actually, snow-capped mountains, that is... LOL! Now I'm finally in the holiday spirit!

O.K. my tree is down and all my Christmas ornaments are neatly put away up in the attic. The only problem I have now is what do I do with all my Poinsettias?

The Feeling of Christmas

The Feeling of Christmas from Linda McClure on Vimeo.

The feeling of Christmas at our house. Merry Christmas from the McClure family.

The Christmas ornaments you see in the video I made out of dough and painted it all freehand when I was very young. I named my project Christmas Children from Around the World. Each child has a gift in their hand, like the little Eskimo holding a starfish. Some of them are cracked and some were missing through the years. I just found them while we were cleaning out our garage last night.

I wasn't going to put a tree up this year, however, I changed my mind. I'm glad I did because it lift my spirits and gave me the feeling of Christmas once again.
