Advent Tea

Advent is a holy season of the Christian church, the period of preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, or Christmas. It is the beginning of the Christian year.

Although I'm from a different religion, I was invited by my friend Eva to go to the St. John's Lutheran Advent Tea, a Christian church in Palm Desert. Also the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) for the homeless was invited as the church's special guest.

We started off with a great homemade buffet style luncheon and than a Christmas celebration story. One gifted lady by the name of Joann, sang so beautifully, it gave me goose bumps! Dorothy also did a great job telling the Christmas story along with Joann. What got me to the heart the most, was the kind act the church did by reaching out to warm up homeless families by donating all their wonderful handmade quilted blankets. It brought tears to my eyes when they handed all their blankets out to the CVRM to bring back to the homeless. I thanked my friend for inviting me for the wonderful experience and the good time I had.
