Hummingbird Recovery

I was upstairs in my home office when I heard a loud bang on our downstairs sliding glass door. It sounded like a golf ball hit it. So I went to see what it was. To my discovery I found a tiny hummingbird laying unconscious on our tiled patio. I guess when I moved the feeders from the back to the front of the patio, this little bird got confused. He crashed into the sliding glass door and was knocked out cold.

The poor little bird looked almost dead. So I carefully picked the hummingbird up to keep him out of harms way and to keep him warm. Then afterwards when the little bird opened his eyes and seemed responsive, I placed him on a tree branch. He finally flew away to another tree after 10 minutes. So happy he recovered! Watch the above video.

Hummingbirds in San Clemente, CA

I never saw so many hummingbirds in one place like I did in San Clemente. My stepson's mom, Diane, has several hummingbird feeders in her backyard. Watch the above video.

Also check out Darin Mcclure's awesome video he made with his iPhone HERE. He propped his iPhone on top of the roof close to the hummingbird feeder. He turned the camera on and then walked away. When he returned to play back the video he was shocked to see a beautiful yellow Oriole feasting off the nectar. Now that explains why the nectar mysteriously kept disappearing so quickly!

One Hummingbird Left In a Nest

The other baby hummingbird has left it's nest. This hummingbird will leave it's nest soon. I'm sure it will be gone by tomorrow.

On December 28, 2009, we hiked the Carrizo Canyon Trail near Highway 74 in Palm Desert, California. We were hoping to see some Bighorn sheep that day. Unfortunately, we didn't see any sightings of the sheep, however, we enjoyed the beautiful scenic atmosphere. Hope you enjoy the video.

Just as I was taking this video of a plant called the Chuparosa, a Hummingbird flew right in front of my viewfinder. Now that's what I call lucky! The tiny bird was getting nectar from the tubular red flowers.

Jim spotted a poisonous plant called Jimson Weed on our hike. Jimson weed is also known as Jamestown weed because of the mass poisoning of soldiers in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1676.
