Diamond Head Lighthouse - Oahu, Hawaii

After my hike up to Diamond Head, I walked around the base of the crater and stopped by the Diamond Head Lighthouse to shoot a quick video just before my final destination at the Foster Tower.

It was difficult to see the whole Lighthouse at ground level because it was behind a high fence and several trees were blocking the view. However, I did get the entire Lighthouse view from the top of Diamond Head which you'll see at the end of my video clip.

A sign next to the fence gave a brief history of the Lighthouse which I read some of the highlights in this movie.

Diamond Head Trail - Points of Interest

We walk from Waikiki Beach to Diamond Head and back every other day. The above video shows a few short clips hiking this crater using my iPhone. Here are some points of interest along the trail:

* There are 74 concrete steps leading into the first tunnel
* The narrow tunnel is lighted and is 225 feet long
* Second stairway consisting of 99 steep steps
* The third level has a lighted spiral staircase with 52 stairs
* The last level has 54 metal stairs
* The summit of the crater are at an elevation of 761 feet

From the trailhead to the summit of Diamond Head Crater is 0.8 mile. Round trip is 1.6 miles. Walking from Waikiki Beach to the crater is 3 miles. So our trek is around 8 miles round trip. A pretty good workout!

Hiking Diamond Head - Hawaii

We hiked Diamond Head this morning starting from Waikiki beach all the way up to the top of the mountain and back. A year ago we thought this trek was strenuous, however, after all the hikes we've done this year, it was a piece of cake!

Since I already filmed Diamond Head and posted it on my vlog a year ago here, I decided to do a quick video from my iPhone.

Now that we're back from our Hawaii trip, I'll be posting video of all the highlights we enjoyed there. The videos I'm about to post are not in order of our trip. This first movie is about our hike up Diamond Head. It was a lot easier then it looked.
