Memorial Day Weekend - San Clemente

Here's some short movie clips I took over the Memorial Day weekend while visiting family in San Clemente, California. No music, just the natural sounds of the beach, train, radio, people, and flag blowing in the wind. The footage was taken with my new camcorder, the Canon Vixia HF10.

Recently my Canon HV20 camera broke. The repair center told me the circuit board was defective and not worth getting fixed. Wouldn't you know, the warranty is up only having it a little over a year, bummer! So I replaced it with the Canon HF10. Although this HD camcorder is a lot smaller and feels good in the hand, it doesn't hold a candle to my Canon HV20. One problem for me, it doesn't have a viewfinder. I usually hold the camera on the bridge of my nose so the footage usually comes out pretty steady even without a tripod. So holding the camera without a tripod with this camcorder comes out a little shaky. Also without a viewfinder, I'm looking through a dark LCD screen on a bright day that makes it difficult to see where I'm aiming. I also noticed the quality isn't as good as my old one. If I never owned a Canon HV20 I would have thought this one was great.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get the newer model to replace the Canon HV20 soon. In the meantime, I'll be using the HF10 as a backup and for putting short clips on my vlog. When I get the new Canon VIXIA HV40, it will be used for shooting important events when I need the higher quality.

O.K. I messed up at the end of this video, if you hadn't noticed. I got the letters backwards on Filmed (Flimed) just so you know I know...LOL! It's too much work to edit and download again.

I enjoyed your video. Lots of people outside on Memorial Day. Oh, that's right it is not over 100 degrees everywhere! Loved the sounds and the bits of nature you captured. The bird drinking water was my favorite. Thank you! Betty G
