I was moving some files off my computer and found some old pictures of One GTE Place. That was the last place I worked, before I retired. About five years ago, the building was sold to another business shortly after GTE and Bell Atlantic became Verizon. The building is located on a hill facing the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks, California.
The design of the building was so unique and futuristic looking that many Hollywood movies were filmed there such as the Demolition Man staring Sylvester Stallone and also I Love Trouble staring Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts. Most of the movies were filmed at night. When filming during the day, they would rope off the area to keep us GTE employees out. Some of us would watch them film during our lunch hour. It was interesting to see how they make movies. Totally different perspective watching it live vs. watching it on the big screen.
Every now and then I think about all my friends and co-workers at GTE/Verizon, wondering how they are and what they're up to. I have a lot of great memories about GTE and miss the old gang.
Click on above picture to see a short movie clip of One GTE Place, the way it use to look several years ago. To view this movie you will need Quicktime to open it. The movie plays best on DSL or Cable.

Hi Erica! Yep, I made the movie. I took the pictures before GTE changed to Verizon. Rather then put it on a slide show, I made a movie to make it more interesting.I forgot to put my name on it. I love it when I get comments! Then I know someone is reading my blog...Thanks! Desertnut
