Salvation Mountain - Niland, CA

We visited Leonard Knight's Salvation Mountain near Salton Sea in Niland, California to take pictures. Leonard spent 30 years building and painting his creation. The mountain was built mostly of adobe and straw holding together with miscellaneous pieces of junk and tree limbs that Leonard gathered from the desert. He then applied whatever paint that people would donate.

Leonard's purpose was to spread the message of "God is Love" and all that is required for salvation was repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ. What he created is a simple unique work of art. People from all over the world come to see it.
