We brought our friends with us to the Tamale Festival in Indio, CA. We sampled all kinds of unique tamales, like the Belgium chocolate, raspberry glazed walnuts tamale and the apple cinnamon one. We enjoyed walking around getting some free samples too. At one booth they were giving away kisses, that is, chocolate kisses. The main reason we go there, is to get Grandma Lupe's Authentic Tamales.
Last year my husband waited in line for two and half hours. This year we waited a full three hours! We got two dozen tamales made with pork. Was it worth the wait? You betcha! The next time we pull a couple of tamales from the freezer and steam them for a wonderful dinner, that's when we know it was all worth it.
