Vloggercon Flash in Video Blogs

Here is another session I went to at Vloggercon called Flash in Video Blogs presented by Will Law. He did a great job explaining how to use Flash in video blogs. This was something I always wanted to learn about.

I like having my movies embedded in my blog. I've been using Dailymotion most of the time because it's clear and crisp. Now I learned there are more ways embedding a video in a web or blog. I also saw the Click.TV presentation and thought I would give it a try.

I have to admit it wasn't easy for me to do this. I thought ClickTV was easy to understand and use. However, it was making my video into a .flv file that was confusing as hell. Finally I had my husband give it a try (he's usually good on the tech stuff). Even Gordon couldn't figure it out at first. What we found out hours later is you have to have a program that uses Flash 8 to work properly.

We used a software called On2 Flx 8 an interface that converts videos from a .mov to a .flv file. Even after converting the video to flv we still had trouble. We kept getting a mismatch in the audio sample rate. To correct the problem, the Quicktime movie that was set at 22KHz needed to be the same selection on the On2 Flix program. Then everything worked fine.

My mom reads my blog everyday. I'm sure after she reads my blog today she won't want to come back tomorrow. I hope I haven't lost some of my readers. I promise you, I'll have something a little more interesting for those who aren't into techy stuff.

Do you actually have to write the code for .flv, or is "click-it" a link to where you have your video stored. Blip creates .flv. I'm wondering if that would work, to link to the Blip file. (No time to check it out tonight, since I"m off to review Dr. Doolittle")

Thanks Bev & Mike for your comments and help. I did try it from Blip and it worked great. I guess because I'm a new user of Blip I didn't realize that they also have flv files.

Click.TV is awesome! I love how it works and the way it looks. Very easy to use.
