Pumpkin had dental work

My dog Pumpkin had his teeth cleaned yesterday. At first, I hesitated to have the vet clean my dog's teeth because I didn't want him anesthetized. He's 13 years old and I didn't want to take any risks. After talking to our veterinarian we decided to have it done.

The veterinarian told us that just like people, good dental care is extremely important to a dog's overall health. Dental tartar accumulates on the dog's teeth and provides a home for bacteria, which can cause gum disease. Untreated dental disease is not only painful but can lead to other problems such as kidney disease and sinus infections. Therefore, getting your dog's teeth cleaned is an important health care item and should not be ignored.

Pumpkin had one loose tooth extracted in addition to getting his teeth cleaned. He is home now doing fine.
