We hiked The Hoh River-Five Mile Island Trail in the Olympic Rain Forest in Forks, Washington on August 20, 2012. The trail was impeccably groomed with minimal elevation change. There were wide grassy banks along the rainforest river. We walked by moss-cloaked maples, licorice ferns and club mosses that clung to overhanging trees. The surroundings were lush and beautiful!
The hike was 10.5 miles roundtrip easy to moderate with elevation gain at 300 feet.
